[ And this video opens to the wide eyes of an eager houndour pup staring up at the screen. ]

Alright, that's it. Good boy. Stay right there.

[ As if on cue, the Houndour sits down with its eyes still glued to the screen. ]

Let's show everyone what you can do then, alright? Up you get!

[ At the command, the houndour sits up with his tail wagging furiously. ]

Good boy! Brilliant! Now the last bit... here you are. Steady as she goes then.

[ At this, Ronald places what seems to be the corner off a pokepuff on the Houndour's nose. The pokemon seems to balance it for a moment before turning his head and snapping it up for himself.... much to his trainer's disappointment. ]

Ah, blimey... Barkley, you were supposed to wait til I said you could eat it!

[ But he settles down beside the houndour, moving the Gear back to face him. ]

Gundam! Here's the pup I bought from you a while back! He's a smart little blighter... got a mind of his own sometimes though.

But... bit of a question. D'you lot know any other tricks I could teach him? Never actually had a dog before and those're a bit different'n the tricks I've taught Grim and the rest to help with my act.

[Why is the gear randomly on? Rin might have left it on before running off to take care of a huge sticky mess Mickey got himself into. This leaves the 'gear wiiiiiiide open for any of his team to take a look.

Puppy... Meet Poochy and T-Bone. Poochy may be smaller than Barkley but there is no way in hell that she'll let some tiny thing show her up. Even if she should probably not antagonize potential coworkers.

T-Bone, on the other hand IS BEYOND EXCITED. CAN HE HAVE THE POKEPUFF TOO? CAN HE? HE CAN SIT STILL -- OKAY HE CAN'T SIT STILL FOR LONG BUT HE CAN TRY REAL REAL HARD AND HE MAKES RIN HAPPY AND WHEN RIN IS HAPPY THEN HE GETS HEAD PATS AND TUMMY RUBS AND LOTS OF EXTRA SNACKS AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE --

Poochy growls at T-Bone to calm the fuck down, to which he dials down his excitement just enough for her to notice.]

[ Ron'll stay where he's sitting, letting Barkley clamber onto his lap and sniff at the gear because lookit the other dog pokemon! There are pokemon on the tiny screen who aren't part of trainer or trainer's boss' team! Lookit the others, trainer! Lookit!

His little tail's going mad.... looks like it's gonna fall off if he doesn't stop because he's pretty excited too.

There's a small bark, a small yippy bark at T-Bone and Poochy in turn as a hello. ]

Yeah, Houndours are pretty awesome! Have you seen what they evolve into?!

[ Showing up wherever Ronald is and... ]

What in Death's name is that thing?

[If she wanted to apologize for her junior's behavior, she would. But Poochy doesn't apologize to anyone. Except Rin. And Yukio. On occasion.

She felt like a proud and regal creature. And as a proud, little pokemon, she had to do the polite thing and show everyone that she had more common sense than her trainer. Poochy barks back in a semi-friendly greeting --

WHILE T-BONE SITS UP AND WAGS HIS TAIL AND BOUNCES AROUND AND SAYS HOWDY FRIEND LOOK AT ME I'M ORANGE I'M T-BONE WHO ARE YOU WHY DID YOU GET A SNACK HOW DID YOU DO THE THING CAN I TRY THE THING LOOK LOOK I CAN DO THE THING TOO--

Poochy growls again, with just a little more bite to it this time and T-Bone backs down. But his excitement cannot be tamed.]

[ He's holding his houndour up over his head, incidentally right outside his tent and was rubbing noses with it the minute Will comes over. ]

It's a Houndour, sir! Hatched a couple of days ago. Isn't he the sweetest thing?

[ Lookit that puppy face, boss? Isn't the best puppy face ever? ]

Can't say I have!

[ Cue minor amusement though as Barkley flops onto his back for a bellyrub. ]

You know a lot about pokemon though, don't you?

[ There's a whine as Barkley's trainer pulls the Gear away but it's only for a second while he finds something to prop it up with in order to give the puppy an easier time.

Once it's back down, Barkley's waddled over, plopping down in front of the screen and sniffing at his possible new friends before dropping down on his forepaws with his little butt in the air. Play! It's all play! Trainer likes play! Maybe your trainer can play too!

Sorry, Poochy. You're in the presence of children. ]

Another one with a skull on its head?

[ Doesn't look too much like a demon dog at this stage, so he'll just be offended instead. ]

It gets these really big horns on its head. Looks pretty damn cool.

Yeah I'm pretty much an expert.

[ No. No he isn't. ]

As I expected.

[He's just going to act like he expected nothing less. Which is about right, of course. But still!]

It will take far more than simple commands to gain its obedience.

S'that right? We'll prolly have to wait and see, won't we, boy?

[ And a bark of approval from Barkley. You bet we will and he's gonna grow up big and tough and protect you from baddies! ]

Where'd you learn all this stuff, by the way? You lot had them back home?

Bought him off a friend of mine. Same bloke who sold Ginny to me. Asked if he had anything useful since we'll be on the road... and this ickle pup comes with a move that destroys rocks.

[ Don't mind him not looking directly at you. Just playing with them pudgy dog paws. ]

You ever had a dog before, Mister Spears?

Wager it'll take commands and treats, the way he goes on.

[ There's a bark from the Houndour though and an eager little tailwag. Best to make friends with everyone ever! ]

Have any advice, by the way? Since you're looking to be an ace breeder and all.

Uh yeah kinda. It was a video game, though.

As with any animal, time and a caring hand should be all that you need. Without those, you may end up with it truly becoming the nightmarish creature it appears to be.

Well - there's the handstand high five, army crawl and the classic playing DEAD!

[She's surrounded by idiots.... Fine. If these children were more content with their babbling, then she should get her trainer. Certainly he'd be able to add to their noise.

...And she's sure that eventually Rin will take her side since no one likes a pokegear covered in puppy drool.

As she pads away to fetch Rin, T-Bone is already enamored with his brand new best friend 5ever. CAN I PLAY? I LIKE PLAYING! PLAYING IS FUN! AND I LIKE MY TRAINER YOUR TRAINER IS NICE HE GIVES YOU MORE SNACKS I WANT A SNACK I HAD A SNACK AND I ATE IT AND NOW ITS GONE I CAN'T FIND IT.

And he sort of goes on and on like that, fully expecting Barkley to follow.]

[ Since Barkley's all preoccupied and the Gear's propped up for him, Ron's just gonna excuse himself for a second to do things: get a drink... take a quick trip to the loo... things. Good to see his houndour's making friends, at least.

Barkley, however, is following right along with T-Bone's yapping. TRAINER'S THE BEST! WE SHOULD PLAY MORE! YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE FUN PLAYING WITHOUT THE TINY SCREEN! MAYBE WE CAN BATTLE SOMETIME! THEN WE CAN PLAY AND TRAINER WILL GIVE US SNACKS!

Surely his Gear may be some measure of drool-proof, right? ]
