[ Today, you are greeted with a whump and a crash... and the sound of a panicked Duskull as it floats over to check on its trainer who had apparently fallen out of bed along with his Gear. ]

...Bimey... what time is it...?

[ There's a pause though as Ronald reaches for his glasses and goes to check the time, his grogginess suddenly disappearing the minute he realizes what time -- and day -- it is. ]

Hang on... I've been asleep for HOW LONG?! That's... not right. At least I'm awake in time for Christmas...

[ And have a small grin before he ends. ]

Bit of advice for you lot: Killua's made some fantastic absinthe lollies for this month's menu... but don't have ten in one go or you might end up like me.

I've normally got a better constitution'n that though. Takes more'n a few bottles to leave me bladdered as all hell.

More than a few bottles of absinthe? Your tolerance must be through the roof. I can barely hold a couple bottles of wine.

[Of course, that's a tolerance she calculated when she was quite a bit smaller than she is now... she still hasn't gotten a good chance to see how much that's changed.]

Bit of a perk when you're a reaper. 'Course, I didn't quite count on this body not being able to take it.

[ He still seems pleasant enough, despite the evident hangover. ]

By the way... we've never met, have we?

Oh, uh, no we haven't. Sorry. My name's Twilight Sparkle. I'm a trainer, but I was a student back home, nothing all that special.

[You know, completely ignoring the "my teacher was the ruler of our whole country and I was being groomed to take on some of that responsibility" thing.]

You said you're a reaper? As in a psychopomp?

Course we haven't. Wager I would've remembered a lass pretty as you with a name that's just as pretty, miss Twilight.

[ He can't be stopped, sadly. But there's a pause at that question. ]

That's right. Prolly not as fancy as you suppose but yeah. M'sure you've heard the tales: death and all that?

[Well that takes her aback for a moment. She actually spends a few seconds mentally wondering if she heard him right while she stares at the screen and blushes. She is so not used to being flirted with.]

Ah... Yes, well, of course I have. I mean, death being such an important part of life it's not surprising to have those sort of stories in any culture... but I've never actually met one of you before. Which I guess makes sense.

[ Ah geez, that blush is cute. He has to hand it to this world: the girls are adorable! ]

Best to call yourself lucky if you haven't met any of us yet. Either that or whoever it was wasn't be careful, eh?

How's the training coming 'round?

[She'll never get used to people in this world thinking she's cute. No one outside her family ever used to call her that.]

Yeah, I'm perfectly fine not meeting any of you until it's actually my time, thank you. Er, current circumstances aside.

Training? Ah, well I'm actually at a point where I'm not quite sure what else to do. I've got one of just about every type of Pokemon at maximum level. You'll find that's actually sort of a problem, if you can call it that, with just about anyone who's been here long enough.

[ Sadly, this one isn't afraid to mention it. ]

No worries, love! I'm off the clock, so to speak. Brought here as willingly as any of you so... s'not exactly somewhere I'm licensed to reap. Or summat like that.

[ There's a blink there, almost in disbelief. ]

S'that right? How long've you been here anyroad?

[She pauses a moment as she considers that. She hadn't even thought about how long she's been here for some time.]

Wow, it really has been that long, hasn't it...

[ And have a long whistle from that. ]

Blimey, that is a buggering long time, innit...? No wonder you've run out of things to do.

[ There's a frown though as he gives it a pause to think. ]

Mm... ever consider travelling as a tourist instead of taking on the gyms or have you had your fill of that too?

Well I've been to all the cities in Johto. I'm about to move on to the other region, Kanto... I've only seen a couple cities there, so there should be a few new things to see, at least.

The adventure continues then, eh? You know...

[ And he'll just smile back, as if he's gotten the best idea. ]

I'll prolly be going on the road with a friend pretty soon... anywhere you'd recommend if you wanted to relax?

To relax? Olivine. It's on the beach, it's got a comfortable hotel and a lighthouse with an excellent view. Definitely the most enjoyable city to stay in. I imagine the only reason more people stay in Goldenrod is for convenience's sake.

S'that right...? Always fancied a trip to the sea. Wager now's as good a time as any to go!

[ He'll just make a note of that because that's probably one place he'll make them take a little detour on... just in case. ]

Goldenrod's prolly a bit closer'n Olivine is to that town we all start at. Could be why everyone's here... but I'll take your advice to heart, Miss Twilight! Sounds like an ace location for a holiday.

Of course, right now might not be the best time. The beach is best in summer, after all. But still, it's actually warmer than you might expect. The ocean does a great job holding in summer's warmth even this late in the year.

Course it is! But it's good to know, all the same.

[ Give him a second to check the map on his Gear. ]

It'll prolly be the right season by the time we get there, anyroad. S'not like we're leaving right away.

Where are you right now, anyway? I might legitimately laugh if you say Goldenrod.

You'd be right there, m'afraid. Course, it's Goldenrod right now out of convenience like you said, love. Joker's an... acquaintance... of mine from back home and it so happens the Circus's my temporary residence.

[ He's pretty amused by the situation himself. After all, here they had been just talking about everyone flocking to Goldenrod out of convenience. But if the small smirk is any indication, he does see the irony in their conversation. There's a pause though as he rubs his nose. There's more to his tale after all. ]

My boss just happened to arrive with the newest batch and he's mentioned wanting to take the gym challenge so... s'not like I could let the old boy go off on his own, eh? Wouldn't be right!

[She can't help it. Just as she warned, she laughs. It's not for very long and it's hardly mean, but she does laugh.]

Sorry, I'm sorry, it's just so fitting. Well we'll see if you can escape.

The circus though, that must be fun. I haven't actually gone yet, I keep winding up busy when they're performing.

[ There isn't any doubt he's just as amused. After all, they've just been talking about it. He does chuckle along with her though, shaking his head at the irony of the situation. ]

It is! M'not doubting that for a second. Course, it'd all depend on Mister Spears and when he wants to leave. M'just going along for the ride.

[ And he does grin back at the second bit. Time for him to put in a good word for himself. ]

That's a bleeding waste though, your being busy and all. It'll be worth the small holiday to go, if you ask me. Course, never did think I'd be doing it meself though I prolly would've fancied it as a young tosser.

Tell you what: next time a show's on, I'll let you know and I can show you around personally. What d'you say?

[She definitely did not expect that offer, and he has her flabbergasted.]

Oh, I... well that's not at all necessary, but I suppose... well I certainly don't see any reason to turn you down.

[And so after a bit of consideration she smiles brightly and nods.]

So sure! Why not?

[ And that smile is returned with one that's equally bright. ]

I promise there'll be nary a dull moment!

Course... I'd rather it be when you're available though.

That won't be as much of a problem these days. I don't have... anyone else to plan my schedule around, anymore.

[Aaaand her smile's wobbling now.]

[ aw crap... now that's not right. He'll just... try to offer her a smile in turn. No way is a girl going to cry. Not on his watch. It wouldn't be right. ]

Cor now, whoever's now waiting for you back home'll prolly have my head for taking away that lovely smile.
