Here's a question for you lot.

[ Today finds Ronald under a tree, enjoying the weather as he uses Barkley (now a houndoom) as a pillow. ]

Color a bloke curious but... how'd you come up with names for your pokemon? Ever fancy naming them after anyone from home?

I name them all after video game characters...pretty much. Sometimes items or attacks from games, too...

The only one of my Pokemon that is named from someone from home is Geraldine. So - yes.

I name mine after figures from old myths and stories I've read.

I name mine after people, mostly, but also after spells, monsters or cities. Not all of those names come from my world, however.

I've named a few of mine after friends. My Altaria was named after a friend named Marco because he's got little spots on his face like his freckles, and then I've got a Feraligatr named after my friend Annie.

Most of them I just call something they remind me of.

Umm...I usually name mine after things that they remind me of. Or things that I think might relate to their personalities.

...I did name one of them after a friend, though.

I usually named them after after technology related things, followed by whatever else they reminded me of. Mostly programming related things more than hardware, but I can branch out.

I've been wondering this too, actually.

[Rossiu seems to be in a Pokémon Center, but that's the most interesting thing in the video aside from his incredibly serious expression.]

It doesn't feel right to leave them without a name, but I haven't been able to come up with any names I like. Naming them after people from home seems strange to me. What if you name them after someone and they show up here and they don't like the Pokémon you named after them? Besides, some of the people I know are so unique that I'm not sure any Pokémon could be a perfect fit for them.

[He pauses for a moment, then his expression softens a bit. He still looks far too serious for a kid.]

If I may ask, what about yours? What have you named your Pokémon?

I suppose in a way I name them after people. Not directly, but using a word or trait that puts me in mind of someone back home or that I know.

That or some obvious physical characteristic. It's just easiest.

I tend to name mine after demons, which in turn means that they're named after mythological creatures, mostly.

So I'm naming them after things from home, yes. In a way, at least.

You know about flower language, right? Roses for love, irises for friendship--Japan does that, too, so most of my Pokemon are named after flowers or plants of some type. Names in Japanese carry a lot of meaning in general, so it's not difficult for me to think of any without having to resort to naming Pokemon after my friends...I would rather not do that, honestly.

Normally it's words I think fit them.

Maybe I should start naming them after people, though. I'm running a little low on inspiration for names as it is.
